Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

As an Orthopedic Physical Therapist, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Assessing the client's physical capabilities by administering diagnostic tests related to muscle, nerve, joint, and functional abilities.
• Developing individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, medical guidelines, and client preferences to enhance mobility and reduce pain.
• Providing physical therapy treatments in clients' homes, including but not limited to manual therapeutic exercises, instructions for non-manual exercises, and administration of physical agents such as traction and massage.
• Evaluating and modifying prosthetic and orthotic devices as needed, collaborating closely with clients' physicians to ensure appropriate modifications.
• Preparing clinical records, including initial evaluations, care plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries, while ensuring compliance with OASIS and documentation requirements.
• Supervising and providing guidance to Physical Therapy Assistants to ensure qualitative delivery of physical therapy services.
• Educating clients and their families about the physical therapy process, including exercises, the use of therapeutic devices, and strategies to enhance recovery and independence.
• Regularly reviewing client progress and making adjustments to treatment plans in consultation with an interdisciplinary team comprising medical directors, case managers, and other relevant personnel.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with a diverse range of clients, including elderly patients, individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries, injuries, and those living with chronic conditions. Your role is pivotal in fostering their recovery, enhancing their strength, mobility, and ensuring a smooth transition from clinical settings to home environments.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current PT licensure in good standing in Virginia.
• Current CPR certification and a valid driver's license with automobile insurance.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with an emphasis on engaging patients and their families to foster a collaborative care environment.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
