Job Title: EPC Project Manager – Industrial Power & Natural Gas Compression Projects Job Description This salaried EPC Project Manager role oversees the full profit and loss (P&L) and lifecycle of large, complex industrial projects, including natural gas compression facilities and power generation plants. You manage all three phases of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction, coordinating technical, commercial, and regulatory interfaces across internal teams, external engineering firms, vendors, and agencies. Working initially from the Houston office and later on project sites across the United States, you ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with all requirements while building strong client relationships and identifying new business opportunities. Responsibilities Own full P&L responsibility for a single large EPC construction project, typically ranging from approximately $150M to $500M in revenue. Lead and manage the complete project lifecycle from initial estimating and proposal development through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and final close-out. Coordinate across engineering, permitting, and procurement teams to align technical, commercial, and regulatory requirements throughout all project phases. Serve as the primary link between internal teams, external engineering firms, vendors, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to drive alignment and timely issue resolution. Plan and direct project activities to ensure all goals and objectives are achieved within defined schedules and funding parameters. Oversee EPC execution strategy, including system integration, vendor coordination, and management of multiple complex interfaces. Manage large industrial projects such as natural gas compressor stations with heavy mechanical scopes involving turbines, motors, and engines. Manage power generation projects for data centers and similar facilities, including simple-cycle plants with multiple turbines or reciprocating combustion engines and potential BESS/solar integration, with heavy instrumentation and electrical scopes. Collaborate with sister or affiliated companies and subcontractors to execute major scopes of work while maintaining overall project control and accountability. Provide leadership and direction to a project team that typically includes 2–5 Project Engineers and support from project controls. Work closely with field teams and trades (self-performed and subcontracted) during the construction phase to drive daily execution and resolve field issues. Enforce and promote a strict safety-first culture across all construction activities, including utility lines, facility construction, and pipe integrity work. Maintain and strengthen client relationships, acting as a trusted partner and primary point of contact throughout the project. Identify and support new business opportunities and follow-on work with existing and new clients. Monitor project performance, including cost, schedule, quality, and risk, and implement corrective actions as needed. Prepare and review project reports, forecasts, and documentation required for internal stakeholders and clients. Support formal training and development of project engineers and field engineers by modeling best practices in EPC execution and project management. Travel to and remain at project sites across the United States during the construction phase, typically for extended periods, while coordinating periodic trips home. Work extended hours, including some evenings and weekends, as required by project milestones and construction schedules. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. 5–10+ years of experience supporting EPC projects, ideally involving compression, gas processing, or power generation facilities. Proven experience managing or supporting large industrial construction projects through engineering, procurement, and construction phases. Strong understanding of EPC execution, including system integration, vendor coordination, and interface management. Demonstrated ability to coordinate across engineering, permitting, and procurement functions on complex projects. Experience with industrial plant builds, including power plants, compressor stations, and heavy mechanical and electrical scopes. Experience in construction management within industrial, mechanical, and electrical environments. Familiarity with turbines, gas turbines, reciprocating engines, motors, and related power generation equipment. Ability to manage multiple complex technical and commercial interfaces simultaneously. Strong organizational, planning, and scheduling skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Effective communication and relationship-building skills with clients, internal stakeholders, vendors, and regulatory agencies. Willingness and ability to be away from home on project sites for weeks at a time during the construction phase. Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet project demands. Additional Skills & Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license is a desired qualification. Experience with natural gas compression facilities and compressor station projects with heavy mechanical scopes. Experience with power generation projects for data centers or similar applications, including simple-cycle plants and heavy instrumentation and electrical scopes. Experience as a field engineer or project engineer on large industrial or power projects. Experience working within an EPC organization, including exposure to estimating, proposals, procurement, construction, and close-out. Ability to provide leadership and guidance to project engineers and field teams in a hands-on environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive timely resolution of technical and commercial issues. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with large, complex, multi-year projects. Motivation to gain broad exposure to the full lifecycle of mega projects, including profit and loss, procurement, and construction management. Work Environment This is a salaried position within a dedicated EPC group that operates as a tight-knit team of around 100 professionals, backed by the resources of a much larger organization with a family-oriented, grassroots culture. You report daily to the Houston, TX office during the Engineering and Procurement phases, typically for 1 to 1.5 years, working a standard 40–50 hour workweek. Once the project transitions to construction, you mobilize to the project site anywhere in the United States for approximately one year, working primarily from an on-site job trailer or similar field facilities. Construction-phase schedules are typically six days per week and about 10 hours per day, reflecting the demands of large industrial projects. Projects include natural gas compression facilities with heavy mechanical scopes and power generation plants for data centers and similar users, often involving multiple turbines or reciprocating engines, batteries, BESS, or solar integration, with heavy instrumentation and electrical scopes. The EPC team frequently leverages sister or affiliated companies and subcontractors to self-perform or oversee major scopes of work while maintaining centralized project control.
