Location: Houston, TX 77087
Pay Rate: $24.00–$35.00 per hour, based on experience and ability
Experience: 2+ years of machining experience preferred

Shift: 2nd Shift

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Manual Mill and Manual Lathe Machinists to join our team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidates will have strong hands-on machining experience, the ability to read and interpret drawings, and the skill to produce quality parts while maintaining tight tolerances.

Candidates with CNC lathe experience are highly encouraged to apply. Experience with Fanuc controls, stainless steel, live tooling, and CNC lathe setup is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate manual mills and/or manual lathes to machine metal components according to specifications.
• Set up machines, select appropriate tooling, and make necessary adjustments.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and machining specifications.
• Measure finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Maintain required dimensions and tolerances, including tolerances as tight as .0005" when required.
• Machine a variety of materials, including stainless steel .
• Perform facing, grooving, boring, drilling, turning, threading, and other machining operations.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain part specifications.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Work independently while meeting production and quality expectations.

CNC Lathe Responsibilities

Candidates with CNC lathe experience should be able to independently perform machine setups, as the facility does not use dedicated setup men .

Responsibilities include:

• Set up CNC lathes for production runs.
• Install and properly position jaws.
• Cut jaws as required for individual jobs.
• Install tooling and perform tool touch-offs.
• Edit CNC programs as necessary to produce parts to specification.
• Operate CNC lathes while maintaining required tolerances.
• Work with Fanuc controls .
• Machine stainless steel and other materials.
• Perform face grooves and ID grooves.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make appropriate adjustments.
• Experience with live tooling is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of machining experience preferred.
• Strong experience operating manual mills and/or manual lathes.
• CNC lathe experience is highly preferred for candidates applying to CNC-focused openings.
• Ability to set up and operate machinery independently.
• Ability to hold tight tolerances, including .0005" when required.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Experience machining stainless steel.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
• Fanuc control experience is preferred for CNC candidates.
• Live tooling experience is a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and dependable.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.

Compensation

$24.00–$35.00 per hour , depending on machining experience, technical ability, and demonstrated skill level.

Candidates with strong setup experience, CNC/Fanuc knowledge, tight-tolerance machining experience, and the ability to work independently may qualify for the higher end of the pay range.
