EHS Manager The EHS Manager identifies existing and predictable hazards on large project sites and takes corrective measures to eliminate risk from the project sites. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health + Safety Sciences or related field, or equivalent safety experience. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in occupational Environmental Health + Safety in construction. Safety‑Trained Supervisor Certification, or equivalent Construction Health and Safety Technician Certification (CHST). Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations. Ability to effectively communicate ideas to employees, trade partners, and clients. Technical Job Knowledge & Responsibilities Lead comprehensive EHS audits and field inspections on complex or high‑risk projects; identify systemic issues and ensure timely resolution. Conduct peer audits of other EHS Managers and share findings with department leadership. Maintain a strong field presence and model expected EHS leadership behaviors. Approve Job Hazard Analyses, Pre‑Task Plans, and high‑risk work scopes; ensure control measures align with company standards and regulatory requirements. Integrate EHS into preconstruction, logistics, and project planning discussions. Facilitate leadership‑level engagement on safety performance and risk mitigation; lead project EHS kickoff and trade partner preconstruction meetings. Conduct intervention meetings to address repeated or significant non‑compliance and reinforce accountability across project teams. Design, deliver, and tailor advanced EHS education and specialized training courses; develop training content for project‑specific risks. Represent the company in external conferences, industry panels, and client‑facing safety briefings. Manage incident investigations and root‑cause analyses; ensure corrective actions are implemented, tracked, and communicated to stakeholders. Oversee monthly EHS assessments and trend analysis across assigned projects or revenue groups; analyze safety performance data to drive proactive interventions. Develop and refine EHS performance metrics; collaborate with leadership on organizational risk mitigation. Create, manage, and instruct on EHS content within internal platforms; guide project teams and staff on effective use of EHS systems. Lead OSHA inspections, insurance audits, and third‑party evaluations; represent procedures and safety practices to external stakeholders. Lead development and refinement of project and corporate EHS policies and procedures; apply expert‑level knowledge of OSHA, company policy, and contract requirements. Supervise EHS staff, provide day‑to‑day guidance, mentor personnel, and model professional EHS leadership. Interview and evaluate EHS candidates for technical and cultural alignment; support professional development. Lead internal business‑plan initiatives, pilot programs, and tool development; collaborate cross‑functionally to advance department strategy. Support client EHS relationship management, including environmental issues, injury claims, and loss control. Coordinate environmental compliance and industrial hygiene efforts, including air and noise monitoring and exposure control implementation.
