Applause Theatrical Workshop is looking for a Music Director to join our Theater Department this fall! This is a great opportunity for a passionate, collaborative musician who loves working with young performers and wants to be part of a creative, energetic theater program. MUSIC DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION Overview: Music Directors at Applause Theatrical Workshop play an important role in helping young performers develop their musical theater skills while creating a supportive, joyful, and collaborative rehearsal environment. Our Music Directors work closely with students and theater faculty to prepare musical numbers, teach vocal parts, build performance skills, and help students feel confident and excited about performing. Teach and rehearse musical theater songs with students Teach vocal parts, harmonies, lyrics, and musical concepts in an engaging and age-appropriate way Help students develop confidence, musicality, stage presence, and performance skills Create a positive, encouraging, and energetic rehearsal environment Collaborate with theater teachers, choreographers, and directors Adapt instruction to different ages, abilities, and learning styles Prepare students for performances and showcases Communicate clearly and professionally with the Theater Department team Be an enthusiastic, energetic and positive role model for students Help foster a strong sense of teamwork, creativity, and community within the program Strong sight reading and quick transposition skills required Strong musical and vocal skills Experience working with children and/or young performers Experience as a Music Director, vocal coach, music teacher, or similar role preferred Strong communication and classroom management skills Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm A collaborative and professional attitude Passion for musical theater and working with young performers Comfortable singing, demonstrating, and getting silly with students when needed! Minimum Requirements Strong sight reading and quick transposition skills required Strong musical and vocal skills Experience working with children and/or young performers Experience as a Music Director, vocal coach, music teacher, or similar role preferred Strong communication and classroom management skills Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm A collaborative and professional attitude Passion for musical theater and working with young performers Comfortable singing, demonstrating, and getting silly with students when needed! Schedule Tuesdays: 3:15-6:15 PM Wednesdays: 3:25-6:30 PM Thursdays: 4:15-6:15 PM Fridays: 4:05-5:05 PM Sundays: 1:45-5:45 PM Rate: $45/hour Availability for the full schedule is NOT required, but preferred. We are happy to consider candidates who are only available for some of the days and times listed above. DURATION Sep 1, 2026 -Jun 1, 2027 SALARY $45.00 – $45.00 per hour
