Job Summary Join the culinary team at Savannah College of Art and Design as a Senior Sous Chef and play a key role in delivering exceptional dining experiences across one of the country’s most creative university environments. This position supports the overall success of the culinary operation by leading kitchen execution, developing innovative menus, overseeing food quality and presentation, and helping create memorable hospitality experiences for students, faculty, staff, and guests. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on culinary leader with strong operational knowledge, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment. Key Responsibilities Support the Executive Chef in overseeing daily culinary operations and ensuring high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation Assist with menu planning, recipe development, seasonal offerings, and culinary innovation Lead and mentor culinary team members while promoting a positive and collaborative kitchen culture Execute catering and special events with creativity, precision, and attention to detail Monitor food and labor costs, inventory, ordering, and overall kitchen efficiency Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards Assist with implementing new culinary initiatives, programs, and dining concepts Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment Qualifications Associate degree in Culinary Arts, culinary certification, or equivalent professional experience Progressive culinary leadership experience in high‑volume foodservice or hospitality environments Experience with catering, banquet, or event execution preferred Strong understanding of food trends, menu development, and modern culinary techniques Knowledge of food cost controls, production management, sanitation, and inventory practices Ability to lead teams in a fast‑paced, service‑focused environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and general computer systems ServSafe Certification preferred Benefits Medical Vision Life Insurance/AD Disability Insurance Retirement Plan Paid Time Off Holiday Time Off (varies by site/state) Associate Shopping Program Health and Wellness Programs Discount Marketplace Identity Theft Protection Pet Insurance Employee Assistance Program Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) Personal Leave Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
