Non-Interim Dates: 07/27/2026 - 05/27/2027 Job Description Grade 5 Teacher Location: Echo Mountain Intermediate Reports to: Site Administrator Oth er Functions Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Administers developmental testing programs and/or subject specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans. Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations, achievements, and methods for improvement. Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration. Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes in support of the school improvement plan. Counsels students for the purpose of improving performance, health status, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues. Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements. Differentiates classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning within established lesson plans. Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students. Facilitates student learning for the purpose of achieving success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through defined lesson plans. Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study. Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment. Monitors students in various educational environments for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. Organizes age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities for the purpose of ensuring student participation in learning activities. Participates on PLC team for the purpose of reviewing data and instructional practices. Participates in meetings (e.g., staff, district, IEPs, 504s) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Prepares a variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements. Responds to health and safety issues to maintain student safety and comply with regulatory requirements and guidelines. Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and directing to appropriate personnel. Responds to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, etc. for the purpose of resolving issues and providing information/direction. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in a job-related area. Certification: Arizona Teaching Certificate; appropriately certified in Core Content Area; SEI Endorsement Required Experience: Job-related experience is desired. Other: Criminal Background Clearance and Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card; FLSA Status - Exempt Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Skills: Apply assessment instruments; operate standard office equipment and relevant software; teach to Arizona state standards; prepare and maintain accurate records. Knowledge: Algebra/geometry concepts; read technical information; facilitate group discussions; understand codes, policies, regulations, and laws; age-appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; child development stages; behavioral management strategies. Abilities: Schedule activities, gather and classify data, work with diverse individuals, solve problems, adapt to changing priorities, maintain confidentiality, and communicate effectively. Work Environment and Additional Information The usual physical demands include occasional lifting and significant standing, walking, and other movements; the position may involve exposure to temperature extremes and potential safety concerns.
