Markets Settlement Analyst II

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Analyst to support Market Settlement Operations. This team is responsible for producing accurate and timely weekly and monthly billing statements that facilitate the financial settlement of wholesale energy market activity and transmission usage across a large-scale network.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain process documentation, including procedures, job aids, and operational guides.
• Perform detailed reviews of data inputs, including load, generation, metering, and transmission-related information, ensuring completeness and accuracy prior to use in settlement calculations.
• Identify and resolve data discrepancies before they impact billing and financial settlement processes.
• Execute recurring processes across hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly timeframes to support billing statement production.
• Continuously build knowledge of market operations, settlement processes, and broader business functions.
• Support process improvement initiatives, including contributing to business requirements for automation or efficiency enhancements.
• Ensure compliance with SOC 1 audit requirements by maintaining proper documentation, tracking issues, and supporting audit activities.
• Utilize internal systems and Microsoft Office tools to support the accurate and timely completion of settlement processing activities.
• Assist with identifying, logging, and resolving control-related issues in coordination with internal teams and audit partners.
• Respond to customer inquiries and support ad hoc data requests as needed.
• Apply critical thinking to identify process or data issues, investigate root causes, and recommend solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Approximately 3+ years of experience in market settlements or a related operational environment
• 1–5+ years of experience in power markets or electric generation/distribution environments is preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
• Self-motivated with a strong desire to understand how individual tasks connect to broader business operations
• Demonstrated ability to break down complex processes and document procedures clearly
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts effectively
• Ability to produce accurate, audit-ready work in a deadline-driven environment
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work efficiently in a team setting
• Experience performing basic quantitative and qualitative data analysis
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (used regularly in this role)
• Familiarity with market operations, planning, or financial functions within energy markets is a plus
• Experience documenting complex processes or developing business requirements is preferred
• Experience writing queries to extract and analyze data from databases is beneficial
