Job Title

Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed cardiovascular progressive care stepdown unit serving a primary population of CV surgery and vascular surgery patients, including open heart surgery, thoracic lung surgery, and esophagogastrectomy cases
• Manage overflow medical cardiology patients presenting with diagnoses such as heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
• Perform and oversee unit procedures including epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV Glucommander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:5 and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge RNs, PCTs, and HUCs
• Operate unit equipment including Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps; document care accurately using Cerner EMR
• Float as needed to stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding units per facility guidelines

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Stepdown experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience within the past year (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
• CVICU experience
• Team-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced clinical environment
