As an RN supporting the Infant/Toddler Inpatient Rehabilitation Department, you'll care for young patients with complex medical, developmental, and rehabilitative needs while partnering closely with their families throughout the rehabilitation journey. Working alongside an experienced interdisciplinary team, you'll combine clinical expertise with family-centered care to support recovery, development, and growing independence. As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include: Performing comprehensive, age-appropriate nursing assessments and utilizing the nursing process to identify the individualized medical, developmental, and rehabilitation needs of infants and toddlers Developing, implementing, and evaluating pediatric rehabilitation plans of care that support each child's clinical needs, developmental progress, and individualized goals Delivering compassionate, evidence-based nursing care while monitoring for changes in condition and responding with timely, appropriate clinical interventions Collaborating with physicians, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, nursing professionals, and other interdisciplinary team members to promote coordinated rehabilitation care Supporting infants and toddlers as they work toward developmental and functional milestones while incorporating rehabilitation principles into daily nursing care Partnering closely with parents and caregivers, recognizing their essential role in their child's rehabilitation, development, and ongoing care Providing individualized education to families and caregivers regarding treatments, rehabilitation goals, developmental needs, and strategies that support continued progress Delegating appropriate responsibilities to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and nursing assistants based on patient needs, staff competencies, and established standards of practice Serving as a clinical resource and role model for LPNs, nurse externs, nursing assistants, nursing students, and newly hired team members Assuming relief Charge Nurse responsibilities as needed while communicating patient needs and clinical concerns to nursing leadership and demonstrating effective problem-solving skills This Role Might Be For You If You are passionate about caring for infants and toddlers with complex medical, developmental, and rehabilitation needs You find purpose in helping young children work toward meaningful developmental and functional milestones You enjoy partnering closely with parents and caregivers and recognize the important role families play throughout pediatric rehabilitation Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving skills guide your nursing practice You thrive in an interdisciplinary environment where nurses, physicians, therapists, and families work together toward individualized goals You bring patience, empathy, and a developmentally appropriate approach to caring for young children You enjoy mentoring and supporting fellow nursing professionals while contributing to a collaborative team culture Continuous learning and delivering evidence-based, family-centered care are important to you To be considered for this Registered Nurse opportunity you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing and meet the nursing education and certification requirements established by Children's Specialized Hospital. Previous pediatric and/or rehabilitation nursing experience is preferred. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical assessment, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, along with a compassionate and developmentally appropriate approach to caring for infants and toddlers. Candidates should be comfortable partnering closely with parents, caregivers, and interdisciplinary rehabilitation professionals to provide individualized, family-centered care that supports each child's medical, developmental, and rehabilitation goals.
