The Role We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to own accounting operations for our North American entities. You’ll be a foundational member of the finance team, reporting to the Group Controller and working closely with our VP Finance to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting for our US and Canadian operations. In this role, you’ll own the full accounting cycle – daily operations through period-end close and everything in between – partnering closely with RevOps, People, Sales, and Customer Success to build, maintain, and operate processes which ensure accurate financials and data reliability. While the business is well established in the U.S., we continue to grow our presence in the market and are actively expanding into Canada. This role will grow with the North American market. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with at least 4 years of experience who thrives in a high-ownership, fast-moving environment. Key Responsibilities Own the entire U.S. and Canadian accounting cycle covering everything from processing and recording individual transactions through period-end closing and group reporting Partner with the Group Controller on consolidation and group reporting deliverables Support external audit processes by preparing workpapers and coordinating with auditors Assist and coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure that tax filings are accurate and timely Use modern finance tools, data platforms, and AI-enabled workflows where appropriate to improve efficiency, accuracy, and insight Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls across the finance and accounting function Support revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606/IFRS 15, working closely with RevOps and Sales to ensure contract and subscription is accurately reflected Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing Who You Are Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Minimum 4 years of experience in accounting, with exposure to transaction processing, journal entry booking, month-end close, and financial reporting Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment Comfortable operating independently with limited direction, and proactive about surfacing issues and driving solutions Clear, confident communicator who can work effectively across functions and with external stakeholders Working knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS principles SaaS, subscription, or tech accounting experience is a strong plus Hands-on experience with Rillet, Net Suite, or Sage Intacct is a plus Background with the following or similar accounting, finance, and automation systems is a plus – Brex, Power Automate, Younium Familiarity with multi-entity, multi-currency accounting environments is a plus Exposure to accounting process improvements, including automation, workflow refinement, or system changes is a plus Why Magma Math Play a key role in an exciting journey - we are a young company with ambitious targets and a mission that matters High-ownership role with direct impact on a lean, ambitious finance team Exposure to international operations and group-level accounting across six countries Fantastic colleagues in a fun, collaborative environment with genuine opportunities to learn and grow Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits An opportunity to have an exceptional impact on education, society, and how children learn math across the world Reports to: Group Controller Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 annually, plus comprehensive medical, PTO, and additional benefits Location: New York.
