Human Resources Intern

The Human Resources Intern will support the Human Resources team while serving as a peer leader and primary liaison for Cambridge interns. Through rotations across HR functions, the intern will gain broad exposure to the employee lifecycle and how different areas of HR contribute value to the business. The internship also offers hands-on experience coordinating the internship program, facilitating events, communicating with interns, and supporting recruiting, onboarding, business support, HR systems, and daily HR operations.

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities

• Help lead the internship program by serving as a peer resource and primary liaison for interns throughout their experience.
• Plan and facilitate intern events, coordinate communications, gather feedback, and use intern insights to help enhance the program and overall intern experience.
• Rotate among HR functions and support recruiting, onboarding, business support, and other HR activities to gain broader exposure to the employee lifecycle and the role HR plays in the business.
• Provide administrative and project support for the internship program, including scheduling, communication, documentation, coordination, and follow-up.
• Review and update job descriptions to help ensure responsibilities, qualifications, and role expectations are clear, accurate, and current.
• Use Excel, DocuSign, Workday, Outlook, SharePoint, and Word to support HR operations, projects, communications, and program administration.

What We Are Looking For

• Current undergraduate student pursuing Human Resources, Business, Communication, Psychology, or a related field.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with peers, collaborate with others, and present information effectively.
• Interest in developing confidence navigating difficult conversations and conflict in a professional environment.
• Critical-thinking ability, adaptability, initiative, and willingness to step into new projects as needs evolve.
• Passion for event coordination, working with people, and using feedback and insights to drive program or organizational improvements.
• Strong organization, follow-through, professionalism, and comfort learning HR tools and software.

Program Summary: Cambridge's Next Step 11-week paid summer internship program (May 17 – July 30) gives students the opportunity to gain valuable insight into both their chosen field and the financial service industry while working on meaningful projects that contribute to business outcomes. Each intern is partnered with a professional mentor and participates in our professional development program, which includes industry education, career workshops, leadership panels, and networking events. Nearly 30% of interns return to Cambridge as full-time associates.

Location: All internships are on-site, operating out of our Phoenix, AZ or Fairfield, IA offices. Apartment-style housing is available for Fairfield candidates, and some positions may be eligible to work out of our West Des Moines satellite office.

Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. We are unable to accommodate temporary student work authorizations, including initial Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Posting Window: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning in November. Internships are expected to remain posted until January 15, but may close earlier if filled. Candidates are encouraged to apply early for greatest consideration.

Compensation: $17-$26 per hour depending upon location, role, and year in school. Interns also receive 2 paid holidays and 2 days of paid time off across the summer.
