As an Integration Engineer in the Global Payment Network (GPN), you will leverage your technical acumen, domain knowledge, and strategic architecture vision to shape how our clients experience payment network systems and brands (Discover, Diners Club International, and Pulse). Operating as an individual contributor and principal technical authority, you will define, deliver, and operate technology solutions to power the systems, applications, APIs, and infrastructure meeting the rapidly evolving needs of a worldwide payment network.

In this role, you will join the Partner Experience Tech (PXT) organization, which manages the "front door" of our payment network with external participants and payment systems. You will set technical and UI architecture strategies, establish modern frontend/API standards, evaluate third-party supplier solutions, and define pragmatic destination architectures with clear waypoint solutions. You will have the opportunity to leverage cutting-edge automation, including AI-native and agentic engineering solutions at scale, to drastically accelerate these modernization efforts and streamline connectivity across a high-volume, low-latency, and highly resilient distributed ecosystem.

Within this global B2B client ecosystem, you will design and architect solutions across the full commercial lifecycle, supporting merchants, acquirers, payment gateways, and card issuers. Your scope spans Marketing & Engagement (public sites, prospect portals, marketing tools), Sales Enablement (prospect management, market intelligence, referrals), and Contract Management & Due Diligence (automated workflows, AI-assisted contract insights, risk/KYC assessments, contract execution). You will streamline client interaction across multiple payment network schemes while championing the user interfaces, system integrations, and automated capabilities that service both internal Capital One associates and external network participant teams. Together, we will increase network acceptance, grow the number of network participants, and unify our market-facing technologies.

What You’ll Do:

• Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
• Continuously improve software engineering practices
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies
• Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience and scalability of your solutions
• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization and diversity
• Design, develop, and implement robust integration solutions that connect diverse enterprise applications, including core business platforms like Salesforce CRM and Google Cloud services (GCP)
• Serve as a senior technical authority for integration design, automation, and system interoperability across multiple platforms and business domains
• Lead development of reusable integration frameworks, libraries, and patterns to accelerate delivery and ensure consistency
• Partner with enterprise architects to define integration architecture standards and evaluate emerging technologies that advance system connectivity

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics)
• At least 6 years of experience designing and maintaining cross-platform or cloud integrations
• At least 5 years of experience developing or supporting API-based integrations using scripting or orchestration tools (AWS Lambda, Step Functions, MuleSoft)
• At least 4 years of experience automating system configuration or data workflows
• At least 1 year of experience implementing monitoring, observability, and automated remediation for integration reliability and performance

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience influencing integration strategy and architecture within product or platform team that they are operating
• 7+ years of experience working in a cloud-based environment (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• 8+ years of experience with deployment tooling (Jenkins, GitHub, Artifactory)
• 4+ years of experience in Agile practices
• 8+ years of experience designing and optimizing enterprise-scale integration solutions
• Experience mentoring senior engineers or leading cross-functional technical initiatives
• Experience managing vendor relationships or cross-functional teams supporting integration or automation platforms

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $200,700 - $229,100 for Integration Engineer 5Richmond, VA: $182,500 - $208,300 for Integration Engineer 5Riverwoods, IL: $182,500 - $208,300 for Integration Engineer 5

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
