Locum PA (Physician's Assistant) General Surgery

Description

This contract-based, on-site position provides an excellent opportunity for an Associate-level PA to deliver high-quality surgical care within a dynamic clinical environment.

As a Locum PA in General Surgery, you will work alongside experienced surgeons and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care, assist in surgical procedures, and manage pre- and post-operative patient needs. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring seamless surgical operations and maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and satisfaction across our practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons in a wide range of general surgery procedures, including pre-operative preparation and intra-operative support
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history reviews and physical examinations
• Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with attending surgeons
• Manage post-operative care, including wound management, patient monitoring, and complication prevention
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging studies
• Document patient encounters accurately and maintain up-to-date medical records
• Provide patient and family education regarding surgical procedures, recovery protocols, and follow-up care
• Coordinate with nursing staff and other healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care
• Participate in surgical rounds and multidisciplinary case discussions
• Adhere to all clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

Requirements

• Physician's Assistant certification from an accredited program
• Active state licensure to practice as a PA in North Carolina
• Current NCCPA certification
• Associate-level experience in general surgery or a related surgical specialty
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
• Proficiency in surgical assisting techniques and sterile procedures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and patient interaction
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, on-site clinical environment
• Strong documentation and EHR proficiency
• Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice

Schedule: 7a-5p, 4-day workweek

No call requirement

Setting: Inpatient and outpatient

Patient Volume: 15 per shift

Support Staff: RNs, MAs, APPs

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified

BLS required
