This position will be located at Roy, UT to support the Sentinel (GBSD) program in the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure. The applicant will be responsible for the design, development, production, and deployment of launch-equipment hardware and systems for each weapons system facility. Working in a dynamic, people-focused environment, the engineer will collaborate closely with users, customers, and fellow engineers to deliver high performance mechanical solutions for the Sentinel program. This position may be filled at a higher level based on qualifications below.Roles and ResponsibilitiesPrimary role is to serve as a mechanical designer for mechanical systems (mechanisms) design on a major Northrop Grumman Defense Systems programResearch, plan, design, and develop mechanical/aerospace products for aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, missiles, ground vehicles and associated ground and test equipmentDevelop CAD models and 3D model based drawings using Siemens NX and Team CenterVerify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, test data processing, and performance analysisSupport all phases of the systems lifecycle including design, drawings, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenanceDesign of components/systems, and preliminary/sizing analysis for both stress and dynamic analysis of aerospace structures.Preparation and presentation of reports, briefings, design documents (drawings and specifications) and interface with customers.Attend internal program meetings, customer technical exchanges, and supplier briefings; present design status during formal milestone reviewsAssisting IPT lead in managing team schedule and mentoring junior engineers in mechanical designBasic QualificationsThis position may be filled at a Principal level or Senior Principal levelRequires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field with 5 years of relevant experience (Sr. Principal level requires a Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience; or a Master's with 6 years of experience)Requires U.S. Citizenship with an Active Secret Security Clearance or higherRequires the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needRequires a minimum 5 years of experience with CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred)Requires a minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering that includes a background in mechanical systems (mechanisms preferred)Requires experience with common engineering standards (ISO, ASME, Mil Spec, NAS, etc.)Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of GD&T, materials selection, and manufacturing processesDemonstrated ability to lead design teams and drive technical decisionsExperience with Team Center (CPLM) and the Product Definition Package (PDP) release processExperience with the ASME Y14.X suite of engineering drawing standardsExperience with requirements management and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) principlesExperience with ICBMs or launch equipment systemsExperience performing dynamic and static analysis (NX Motion or ANSYS preferred)Proficiency in DOORS, CAMEO, Jira and ConfluenceExperience in managing or leading an interdisciplinary engineering team from concept creation through test and verificationExperience as a Control Account Management (CAM)Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing directionProficient written and verbal communication skills when conveying technical contentPosition BenefitsAs a full-time employee of Northrop Grumman Defense Systems, you are eligible for our robust benefits package including:Medical, Dental & Vision coverage401kEducational AssistanceLife InsuranceEmployee Assistance Programs & Work/Life SolutionsPaid Time OffHealth & Wellness ResourcesEmployee Discounts This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
