Overview Group 1 Automotive is seeking experienced Service Advisors for our Kansas City-area dealerships, including Shawnee Mission Kia and BMW/MINI of Shawnee Mission. We're looking for customer-focused professionals who excel in a fast-paced service environment and have a talent for building trust with customers while identifying and recommending vehicle maintenance and repair solutions. As a Service Advisor, you'll serve as the primary link between customers and the service department, ensuring a seamless experience from vehicle check-in through service completion. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, automotive knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage a high-volume workload. Responsibilities Schedule and confirm service appointments to ensure an efficient customer experience Create accurate, transparent repair orders with detailed cost and time estimates Serve as the primary liaison between customers, technicians, and parts teams Provide timely updates and clear communication throughout the repair process Review inspections and confidently recommend maintenance and repair services Maintain strong product, warranty, and service knowledge Accurately document customer interactions and service details in the system Qualifications Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving recordHigh school diploma or equivalent required; additional automotive training or certifications are a plus Prior experience as an Automotive Service Advisor, Service Writer, or in a customer-facing role within a dealership or automotive service environment preferred Strong knowledge of automotive maintenance, repair processes, and vehicle systems Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information in a clear, professional manner Proven ability to upsell recommended maintenance and repairs based on vehicle needs Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple customers and tasks in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with dealership management systems (such as CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or similar) and basic computer skills Ability to work collaboratively with technicians, parts staff, and management What makes a successful Service Advisor?
