Allied Health Nursing Teacher, 2026-2027 School Year Talent PoolPosition: Certified Nursing Teacher for Allied Health PathwayReports To: School PrincipalPrimary Function: To plan, organize and implement an appropriate Allied Health instructional program in a High School learning environment through a combination of classroom and work-based learning to prepare students for career and college opportunities in the high-growth, high-demand healthcare sector. Students in the Allied Health pathway earn industry-recognized credentials in CPR/AED/First Aid, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and Patient Care Technician (PCT).Typical Duties and Responsibilities:Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.Communicate regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.Implement curriculum and lesson plans, utilize technology to facilitate learning, and support the varying learning styles and needs of a diverse student population.Maintain standards of practice for the Allied Health pathway as established by the State of Connecticut and the National Association of School Nurses.Performs other duties as designated by the Principal.Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:A bachelor's degree;One year of satisfactory work experience in health occupationsA minimum of six semester hours of credit in professional education (in areas such as teaching vocational and industrial education; or foundations of education, educational psychology, adolescent psychology, psychology of learning, curriculum and methods of teaching, classroom instruction and management, multicultural diversity or equity issues in education.A valid license issued by the Connecticut Department of Health; andA three-credit course of study in special education including gifted and talented.Demonstrated ability to work as a team member who is flexible and adaptable and holds the Mission of the Allied Health pathway as a priority.Note: If an applicant meets all requirements other than the nine credits in specific coursework, an interim certificate can be issued.
