Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a MedSurg/Telemetry Oncology position requiring 2 years of current acute care experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a cancer hospital's MedSurg/Telemetry Oncology unit caring for all solid tumor cancer types
• Patient population includes adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses such as breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancer
• Unit cares for patients across the cancer journey, from new diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life transition
• Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, with potential for 1:5
• Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) or Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) available
• Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs with no set/blocked scheduling
• Floating required to other MedSurg Oncology units
• Uses Epic for computerized charting
• Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care experience required, with consistent work in the specialty within the last 12 months
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred but not required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills required include telemetry interpretation and monitoring, IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, port accessing/management, central line blood draws, chemotherapy administration, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Tracheostomy care/management skills preferred
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; coworker references not accepted

• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this facility
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing the contract; those outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet to complete urgently
