Position Overview School / Campus / College: University of Washington, Bothell Organization: Educational Studies Title: Assistant Teaching Professor in Developmental and Youth Studies Position Details: Position Description The School of Educational Studies at the University of Washington Bothell invites applications for a teaching faculty position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, with an anticipated start date of September 2027. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full‑time basis for a nine‑month, 3‑year appointment beginning September 16, 2027. The base salary range for this position will be $9,345 - $9,845 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of undergraduate courses offered as part of the Developmental and Youth Studies degree, including, for example: Theories of Learning, Culture & Identity, Human Growth and Learning, Children in Schools & Society, and Adolescents in Schools & Society. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in innovative and effective pedagogy (face‑to‑face as well as hybrid platforms) and will be committed to working with diverse student and community populations. All University of Washington faculty members engage in teaching and service. Located in the heart of the Puget Sound region, the University of Washington Bothell is one of the most dynamic public universities in the state of Washington. The campus offers more than 55 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in five schools. Current UW Bothell enrollment is over 6,000 students. More than 90% of undergraduates are from Washington State, and approximately 40% are first‑generation college attendees. The priorities of the University’s current Strategic Plan – “Expanding Access, Achieving Excellence”, are to enhance community and campus engagement, and advance cross‑disciplinary teaching and scholarship. In addition to award‑winning faculty and staff, UW Bothell has been recognized for innovations in academic programming and support services designed to help students graduate on time and debt‑free. It has also earned both recognition and awards for its work in the area of environmental sustainability and is just one of twelve institutions selected to join the launch cohort of the Postsecondary Data for Action Network (PDAN), a new national initiative co‑led by the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP) and the Association for Institutional Research (AIR). This selection places UW Bothell among a small group of colleges and universities collectively committed to using data in smarter, more student‑centered ways. Qualifications Earned doctorate in education, educational studies, learning sciences, human or child development, or related field, or foreign equivalent 2+ years' K‑12 teaching experience or equivalent professional experience 1+ years' experience in teaching lower and/or upper‑division courses that examine child and youth development 1+ years' experience in teaching with face‑to‑face, hybrid, and/or online platforms Instructions To ensure full consideration of your application, please submit all materials by October 15, 2026.
