Food Service Assistant (S) Agency: Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division: J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center Job Overview The Food Service Assistant (FSA) serves diets to residents according to pre-planned schedules, prepares menu items, maintains safe food temperatures, plates meals per ordered diets, follows food handling policies, assists trainer staff, provides snacks and medically ordered nourishments, stores food, cleans the kitchen, orders stock, and interacts with residents. The FSA also washes and stores dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen appliances. Responsibilities Serve diets as ordered to each resident according to a pre-planned schedule. Prepare menu items and assist in menu planning for service. Maintain safe temperatures of food items. Plate meals following specifically ordered diets. Follow safe food handling policies and procedures. Assist trainer staff in dining rooms as needed. Provide snacks and medically ordered nourishments for residents. Complete proper food storage and labeling. Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment. Order and replenish stock items for the main kitchen. Provide appropriate interactions with residents. Wash and store dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen appliances. Qualifications Education and/or experience in food service directly related to medical diets. Ability to use various computer programs such as e-mail, Microsoft Word, and Excel and general office equipment. Physical Requirements Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions. Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of occasional force and up to 20 lbs of force frequently, or up to 10 lbs constantly. Visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work. 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM

6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

10:30 AM – 7:00 PM
