Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough initial mental health assessments to evaluate clients' emotional, psychological, and behavioral conditions, documenting all interactions to ensure comprehensive case management.

• Develop personalized treatment and recovery plans that reflect the unique needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups, incorporating evidence-based interventions.

• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, creating a safe and supportive atmosphere that encourages open communication.

• Continuously monitor client progress throughout treatment, making adjustments to intervention plans as necessary to align with therapeutic goals.

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, and medical doctors, to coordinate care and optimize client outcomes.

• Provide follow-up insights and updates to primary care providers and psychiatrists regarding clients admitted to healthcare facilities, ensuring continuity of care.

• Identify challenges and behaviors that may hinder recovery and implement strategies to address these issues proactively.

• Guide and support family members and caregivers in managing their loved ones' mental health challenges, facilitating education and strengthening support systems.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Our client base is remarkably diverse, encompassing individuals experiencing a range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use disorders. As a Mental Health Counselor at West Hills Behavioral Health Center, you will have the opportunity to work with clients from various backgrounds and ages, tailoring your therapeutic approach to meet their unique cultural and individual needs.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.

• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LCPC, LCSW in the state of Illinois is essential.
\n
• Successful completion of the National Counselors Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) is required.
\n
• Demonstrable previous experience in a mental health counseling role, showcasing your ability to manage diverse client needs and treatment strategies.
\n
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR or similar platforms, is necessary for effective case management.
\n
• A strong understanding of co-occurring physical and emotional health issues, along with experience in treating addiction disorders.
\n
• Adeptness in best practices as stipulated by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and a comprehensive understanding of medications prescribed by healthcare providers.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with outstanding interpersonal abilities that emphasize empathy and understanding.

Preferred Experience\n

• A minimum of three years’ experience working directly with clients in a counseling capacity is preferred.

• Specialized training or certifications in trauma-informed care or other advanced therapeutic approaches is advantageous.

• Experience with families dealing with mental health challenges is a plus.
\n
• Proficiency in therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or mindfulness techniques is desirable.

Compensation and Benefits\n

The salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience, and includes a sign-on bonus to welcome you to our team.
