About the RoleThe Communications Specialist I provides mentorship, correspondence, resource navigation, and reentry preparation support to individuals who are currently incarcerated. Through letters, telephone calls, electronic communication, curriculum, and resource sharing, this role helps participants identify needs, prepare for release, and connect with resources that support successful community reintegration.
This role is ideal for someone who :

What You’ll Be Responsible For- Communicating with participants through letters, calls, email, and other approved channels
- Providing mentorship, approved curriculum, resources, and reentry guidance
- Helping participants identify housing, recovery, community, and other reentry resources
- Processing correspondence and maintaining accurate participant records in Salesforce
- Monitoring participant information for needs, progress, concerns, and reentry barriers
- Collaborating with ADCRR personnel, families, community partners, and internal departments
- Meeting documentation, quality, productivity, and departmental expectations

- Correspondence and participant records are accurate, timely, and complete
- Participants gain access to relevant resources and practical reentry information
- Reentry needs and barriers are identified and appropriately communicated
- Professional and ethical boundaries are consistently maintained
- Communication helps participants remain engaged, accountable, and prepared for successful release

What We’re Looking For- High school diploma or GED
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Relevant experience or demonstrated knowledge of incarceration, corrections, reentry, recovery, peer support, criminal justice, or human services
- Working knowledge of recovery principles and community reentry needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organization, time management, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop supportive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, Salesforce or comparable CRM systems, and related technology
- Two or more years of relevant reentry, corrections, recovery, behavioral health, peer support, mentoring, or human services experience preferred
- Relevant lived experience related to incarceration, reentry, or recovery and Peer and Recovery Support Specialist certification preferred
- Experience communicating with incarcerated or justice-involved populations preferred
- Experience with ADCRR or another correctional system preferred
- Knowledge of Arizona housing, recovery, employment, behavioral health, and community resources preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency preferred

Environment + Physical DemandsThis position works primarily in professional office, reentry-services, administrative, and participant-support environments and involves significant correspondence, telephone communication, electronic communication, data entry, and records management. Occasional local travel may be required.
