About the Role

The Company is seeking a General Counsel to take on a newly created, strategic, and execution-focused role within its legal function. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice and guidance on a wide range of business and compliance matters, with a strong emphasis on the retail industry. This includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various legal documents to safeguard the company's interests, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and managing relationships with external legal counsel. The role also involves developing and implementing strategies to mitigate legal risks, representing the company in legal proceedings, and overseeing corporate governance. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should hold a Juris Doctor and be a member of the US state bar in good standing. A background in the retail industry or a similar sector, particularly with experience in leasing work, construction/store fit-out contracts, and employment matters across multiple states, is highly preferred. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with international brands, collaborating with senior stakeholders, and possess strong knowledge of corporate, compliance, and contract law. Excellent negotiation, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure are essential. The role requires the candidate to be based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and to be able to work from the office.
