New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable. # of Positions: 1 Work Location: San Luis Obispo County Telework: In Office Job Type: Permanent Intermittent - 1500 Hours Facility: DSH - Atascadero Job Description And Duties The Permanent/Intermittent Nurse Instructor - School of Psychiatric Technology (SOPT) will be directed by the Supervising Registered Nurse (SOPT Program Director) in the Psychiatric Technician Program at the Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero (ASH). The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to: Accurately instruct adult learners in professional nursing principles and techniques in planning, organizing, and conducting educational courses in Psychiatric Nursing, Developmental Disabilities and Nursing Science Supervise clinical training of Psych Tech students and assist them to meet clinical objectives Heavy lifting up to 30 pounds when required Communicate effectively Possess classroom management skills Possess knowledge of medications and medication medical/psychiatric administration terminology Participate in the evaluation and development of educational programs and policy Evaluate progress and performance of students Tutor and counsel as needed Eligibility To be considered for this career opportunity, applicants must have eligibility by way of one of the following: reachable on an certification list, have transfer eligibility, or have reinstatement eligibility.
