Senior Sales Director

Macgregor Black are partnering with a growing toy brand on the search for a Senior Sales Director - US. This is a permanent role based in New York. As the Senior Sales Director, you will focuson building the US business, securing new retail partnerships, and establishing the company's presence within key mass-market retailers. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of opening doors and driving growth with major US retailers, particularly Walmart and Target, and will bring deep expertise from the toy industry. Key Responsibilities Lead the company's US commercial expansion strategy and establish a strong retail footprint across North America. Develop and execute strategic sales plans to secure listings with major mass-market retailers including Walmart, Target, and other national accounts. Build and manage senior-level relationships with buyers, merchants, and category decision-makers. Identify and secure new distribution opportunities across mass retail, specialty toy, and omni-channel accounts. Represent the company in the US market, acting as the key commercial leader and brand ambassador. Collaborate with UK-based leadership, marketing, product development, and supply chain teams to ensure successful market entry and growth. Develop account plans, sales forecasts, promotional strategies, and annual business reviews. Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and consumer behaviour to identify growth opportunities. Build and lead the US sales organisation as the business scales. What are we looking for? Significant sales leadership experience within the toy industry. Proven success developing and growing business with major US mass‑market retailers. Demonstrated experience opening new retail accounts and building distribution from a relatively low market base. Strong relationships with key buyers and decision‑makers at Walmart, Target, and other leading US retailers. Experience representing international or challenger brands in the US market is highly desirable. Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently and build a market from the ground up. Excellent commercial, negotiation, and relationship‑management skills.
