Human Resources Generalist

This team member must be located within 40 miles of the Blue River PetCare Chicago corporate office in order to work a hybrid schedule. TheHR Generalistsupports the corporate employee population by partnering with managers and employees to address employee relations matters, performance concerns, and workplace issues while ensuring consistency with company policies and employment laws. This role supportscorporatecompensationbenchmarking and workforce insights,assistingwith internal equity reviews, job leveling discussions, and organizational alignment. The position is designed for an HR professional who is comfortable assessing situations independently, guiding leaders through HR processes, and continuing to grow their HRexpertise. The role works closely with the HR team to ensure consistent support across the corporate population andmayassistwith HR operational processes as needed to support overall team coverage and continuity. Key Responsibilities Employee Relations & Manager Support Serve as a primary HR resource for corporate leaders on employee relations matters, including performance concerns, workplace conflict, disciplinary actions, and policy interpretation. Guide managers through progressive discipline and performance management processes, ensuring documentation and consistency. Assistwith employee relations investigations and recommendappropriate nextsteps. Support managers in navigating employee issues and difficult conversations whilemaintainingfairness and compliance. Compensation & Organizational Support Support compensation benchmarking for corporate roles by reviewing market data andassistingwith internal equity analysis. Assistwith job description reviews, role scope evaluations, and organizational structure discussions as business needsevolve. Support salary adjustments, promotions, and new role requests to ensure alignment with company compensation philosophy. Compile and review compensation and workforce data to support informed HR and leadership decisions. Compliance & HR Guidance Interpret and apply company policies while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO). Support policy updates and HR process improvements as needed. Assistwith offboarding activities including exit interviews and trend analysis. Employee Experience & Engagement Support employee engagement and retention initiatives across the corporate population. Help coordinate and deliver aconsistent and welcoming onboarding experience for new corporate employees, ensuring new hires receive the information, resources, and support needed to successfully integrate into the organization. Collaborate with HR and leadership to continuously improve onboarding processes andidentifyopportunities to enhance the overall employee experience. Partner with HR leadership to foster a positive and collaborative workplace environment. Requirements Qualifications 3–5years of Human Resources experience , with exposure to employee relations and compensation support. Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices. Ability to assess situations, exercise sound judgment, and guide managers through HR processes. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment whilemaintainingconfidentiality. Technical Skills Experience withHRIS systems (Workday experience preferred) Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite Ability to work with HR data and reports to support decision-making Education Bachelor’s degree in Human Resourcesor related field preferred Physical Requirements Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time Occasional movement within the office to access equipment or supplies Frequent communication with employees in person and via phone/email Occasional lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $78,000-81,000 per year Blue River PetCare team members are eligible to participate in the discretionary annual bonus program.
