Property Accountant

Property Accountant Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant . This role will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of residential properties, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. Experience with HUD or low-income housing programs is a strong plus. Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Perform bank and account reconciliations Manage full-cycle month-end close processes Analyze financial results and perform variance analysis Maintain general ledger integrity and supporting schedules Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements (including HUD, where applicable) Collaborate with property management teams to resolve accounting issues Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 2+ years of accounting experience (property or real estate industry preferred) Experience with residential property accounting strongly preferred Familiarity with HUD or affordable housing programs is a plus Proficiency in advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas) Experience with property management/accounting systems such as Yardi, RealPage, MRI, or similar Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines IND4 #J-18808-Ljbffr
