Lead Software Engineer - AWS Resiliency

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, along with 5+ years of applied experience.
• We expect hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• We require practical experience with AWS cloud architectures, especially DR-enabling services such as AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery, AWS Backup, and multi-AZ or multi-region deployments.
• We need proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Go, or Bash, plus familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• We require 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Disaster Recovery Planning, or Distributed Systems Engineering.
• We require demonstrated experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to set expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• We require a strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and alignment with resiliency and security expectations, plus experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
• We expect advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• We require demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile.

• We lead and coordinate end-to-end disaster recovery tests and real-time failover events across the product portfolio, ensuring effective collaboration across teams.
• We develop and maintain broad resiliency frameworks that development and infrastructure teams can use through automated offerings and repeatable patterns.
• We define and track Recovery Time Objectives and Recovery Point Objectives for all product components, using metrics to surface architectural or procedural gaps.
• We partner with application teams to automate disaster recovery provisioning, scaling, configuration, and monitoring using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
• We drive resiliency testing scenarios and chaos engineering with native AWS tools like AWS Fault Injection Service and AWS Resilience Hub to uncover weaknesses before production impact.
• We work with SREs to build stronger detection capabilities, using AWS Resilience Hub to evaluate application resilience and configure proactive CloudWatch alerts.
• We establish, maintain, and execute technical disaster recovery playbooks and recovery runbooks, including sequence mapping and dependency management.
• We collect, govern, and report on disaster recovery test artifacts, audit trails, and resilience maturity scores to demonstrate compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
• We promote adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, speed of delivery, and operational outcomes, while reinforcing secure coding, peer review, automated testing, and reuse of effective patterns.
• We apply knowledge of software development lifecycle tools, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value delivered by automation.
