Job Detail - School Psychologist Posted on : 02/20/2026 Job Location : Central Office Category : Certified Job Description Position Title: School Psychologist Work Days: 230 Days Reports To: Director/Assistant Director of Special Education Evaluation Tool: VCS Evaluation Instrument FLSA Status: Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: Deliver appropriate psychological services to students with or believed to have a disability in the school district through psychological evaluations, Section 504 evaluations/meetings, individual and group intervention recommendations, behavioral observations, and consultations; maintain a professional relationship with school personnel, families, and community agents to promote better educational programs and mental health. CERTIFICATE/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Master’s or Education Specialist degree in School Psychology; 1 year related experience and/or training; Certification through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission; or equivalent combination of education and experience, or as determined by the Board of Education. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify and assess the learning, development, adjustment characteristics, and needs of individuals and groups, as well as the environmental factors affecting learning and adjustment for school-age and preschool students, as appropriate. Prepare psychological evaluation reports, eligibility reports, Section 504 evaluations, and accommodation plans as appropriate for school-age and preschool (ages 3-5) students. Provide consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance learning and adjustment of students (e.g., classroom observations, providing feedback, participating in Student Support meetings, assisting in collaborative problem-solving, etc.) Attend case conferences related to placement of students (e.g., staffing, eligibility, evaluation review, Section 504, etc.) Provide ongoing professional learning to various stakeholders to increase knowledge and awareness of special education topics and rules/regulations. Assist with the administration of assessments related to gifted identification. Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Director or other central office administrators, as designated by the Superintendent. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Not responsible for supervising others QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work well with teachers, school administrative teams, and district office leaders. Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation. Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators. Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work. Ability to be present at the physical worksite. Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting. Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 40 pounds.
