Infrastructure Monitoring Lead Platform Engineer

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in infrastructure engineering, with at least five years of applied experience.
• Proficiency administering, troubleshooting, and analyzing the performance of Linux and/or Windows systems in regulated production environments.
• Hands-on experience delivering and operating enterprise-scale infrastructure monitoring across Linux, Windows, and/or network environments.
• Practical knowledge of observability and telemetry, including metrics, logs, events, OpenTelemetry collection patterns, and integration with downstream components.
• Experience with scripting and development using Python, Ansible, PowerShell, and/or Bash, plus CI/CD workflows for secure, controlled, repeatable changes.
• Ability to develop, review, debug, and maintain secure production code and platform configurations, including monitoring automation.
• Broad infrastructure experience spanning hardware, operating systems, networking, storage, and databases such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, and Cassandra, including deployment, integration, scaling, resilience, and performance considerations.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools such as Terraform.
• Experience operating hybrid infrastructure, including on-premises platforms and public or private cloud, with familiarity supporting or migrating monitoring across cloud environments.
• Ability to improve monitoring quality through baselining, threshold design, noise reduction, enrichment, and topology or context alignment.
• Experience using enterprise-authorized AI tools in infrastructure engineering, with strong validation practices and awareness of data sensitivity.
• Ability to assess AI-assisted recommendations before implementation and ensure outcomes meet resilience, security, and auditability expectations.
• Preferred: Experience with enterprise monitoring platforms such as SCOM, Tivoli, SMARTS, IBM Instana, DX NetOps, ITNM, or the Netcool Suite.
• Preferred: Experience with observability tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, or Prometheus, and with telemetry integration, routing, and visualization.
• Preferred: Experience with Kubernetes, such as EKS, for container orchestration and operations.
• Preferred: Experience with topology-driven monitoring and correlation in large-scale infrastructure environments.
• Preferred: Knowledge of event management and AIOps workflows, including noise reduction, anomaly detection, probable-cause analysis, and guided remediation with appropriate controls.

• Engineer, operate, and continually enhance our infrastructure monitoring platforms to maintain availability, performance, scalability, and security.
• Build and operate enterprise monitoring capabilities across Linux, Windows, and complex network environments, including platform onboarding and lifecycle management.
• Use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to support infrastructure analysis and design documentation, validating results and handling operational data according to its sensitivity and security requirements.
• Design and implement platform services, integrations, and telemetry collection for metrics, logs, and events, using OpenTelemetry patterns where appropriate.
• Create and maintain standardized onboarding patterns for agents, collectors, configurations, dashboards, and alert policies to support safe adoption at scale.
• Improve monitoring signals and usability through baselining, threshold strategies, noise reduction, enrichment, and topology and context alignment.
• Develop secure, high-quality automation and production code; review, debug, and improve code and configurations created by others.
• Automate platform operations and reduce repetitive work using scripts, CI/CD-based configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code deployment patterns.
• Maintain production health for the monitoring platform, lead triage and root-cause analysis, and deliver preventive engineering and resilience improvements.
• Partner with infrastructure, application, and SRE teams to align platform capabilities with SLIs and SLOs, operational readiness, and continuous improvement objectives.
• Apply reuse-first and AI-assisted practices in delivery and automation to identify recurring issues and validate remediation options, ensuring changes are traceable, auditable, resilient, and secure.
