Staff Accountant – Accounting Operations

Employment Type: 6-month contract with potential for permanent hire
Work Arrangement: Hybrid—one onsite day one week and two onsite days the following week, approximately six days per month
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch
Target Start: October 2026

Position Overview

We’re seeking an experienced accounting professional who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and taking ownership of their work. In this role, you’ll manage accounting operations processes and projects, research complex issues, and work with colleagues across departments to improve accuracy and efficiency.

This is an individual contributor position with opportunities to share your knowledge, guide peers, and help shape how work gets done. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, clear communication, and the ability to manage priorities with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Own accounting operations workstreams, projects, or processes from planning through completion.
• Set priorities, establish milestones, monitor progress, and deliver accurate work within agreed timelines.
• Research and resolve accounting and operational issues by reviewing information, identifying root causes, and evaluating potential solutions.
• Analyze how proposed changes may affect related processes, stakeholders, and department results.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reduce recurring issues, and strengthen operational practices.
• Recommend and help implement process improvements, collaborating with stakeholders to support consistent practices across teams.
• Communicate clearly with internal teams and external customers or vendors, as applicable, to resolve inquiries and maintain positive working relationships.
• Provide updates on progress, findings, risks, and recommendations.
• Share best practices and provide training or guidance to peers and junior colleagues.
• Partner across departments to support accurate execution and improve overall performance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least five years of professional accounting or finance experience.
• Experience in accounting operations, finance operations, or a similar transaction-processing environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
• Experience owning processes or projects, including planning, tracking progress, and delivering results.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including resolving issues involving multiple teams or stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and a practical approach to improving how work is completed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing and implementing process improvements.
• Experience using metrics or KPIs to evaluate process effectiveness.
• Experience training or coaching colleagues on procedures and best practices.

Interview Process: Two rounds of interviews.
