President

The Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber is seeking a highly visible, relationship-driven President to lead the organization’s next chapter of growth and impact.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President will set organizational strategy, grow membership and revenue, strengthen business and civic partnerships, and serve as the Chamber’s primary spokesperson and advocate.

This is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial leader to shape the region’s business climate while leading a respected, member-focused organization.

What You’ll Lead

• Implement the Chamber’s strategic plan and translate priorities into measurable results.
• Develop strategies to grow membership, improve retention, and strengthen member engagement.
• Increase sponsorships, partnerships, fundraising, and other non-dues revenue.
• Build relationships with business leaders, elected officials, educators, economic development organizations, and community partners.
• Serve as the Chamber’s primary spokesperson at public meetings, events, and regional initiatives.
• Advocate for policies and initiatives that support economic development and a strong business climate.
• Oversee Chamber operations, budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and organizational performance.
• Advise and collaborate with the Board of Directors, committees, and volunteer leaders.
• Lead, support, and develop staff to strengthen performance, collaboration, and alignment with the organization’s mission.
• Oversee marketing, public relations, branding, and member communications.

What You’ll Bring

• At least seven years of progressive leadership experience in business, nonprofit management, association management, economic development, community development, fundraising, or a related field.
• Demonstrated success in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and team management.
• Experience managing budgets and maintaining sound financial performance.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and public-speaking skills.
• Experience working with boards, committees, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience managing and developing staff while building an accountable, mission-focused team culture.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Availability for evening and weekend meetings and events.

Preferred Experience

• Executive leadership experience with a Chamber of Commerce, business association, nonprofit organization, or economic development agency.
• Success growing membership, sponsorships, partnerships, fundraising, or non-dues revenue.
• Experience working with elected officials and community leaders.
• Knowledge of economic development and public policy issues affecting businesses.
