Position: Bus Monitor Department: Transportation Wage/Salary Status: Nonexempt Immediate Supervisor: Special Needs Coordinator, Driver and Safety trainer/Designee

starting hourly rate $14.00 Days Employed: 177 POSITION SUMMARY:
- Assist with providing safe transportation for special needs students to and from designated locations
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Acceptable driving record
- Satisfactory criminal history check
- Must successfully complete a 20-hour special needs training course
- Ability to read two and three-syllable words
- Ability to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers
- Ability to print and speak simple sentences
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students
- Ability to read and understand maps
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form
- Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all district requirements and the School Board policies
- Assist Driver and students in the operation of lifts for wheelchairs and assisting disabled students
- Maintain good student conduct on the bus
- Secure special equipment that may accompany the student
- Be alert to any conditions presenting a danger to students
- Communicate appropriately with students, parents, and employees
- Supervise students during transport

- Continuously required to sit and occasionally required to walk or stand
- Frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk
- Repetitive hand, arm, or finger motion
- Frequently use hand strength to grasp equipment or students
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 90 pounds, such as students in wheelchairs
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision
- Occasionally work in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
- Walk on slippery surfaces
- Meet deadlines with severe time constraints
- Interact positively with the public and other workers
- Responsible for the safety and well-being of others
- Noise level is loud requiring a raised voice to be heard
