HR Sales - Small Business Solutions Specialist – B2B Sales (HR, Benefits & Insurance Consulting)

Location

Akron, OH (serving the Greater Akron / Northeast Ohio region) — onsite, with time in the field visiting clients at their locations throughout Akron, OH.

Overview

Small business owners with under 15 employees need a trusted advisor who actually understands payroll, benefits, and HR but often don't have enough work to support a full-time HR Generalist with that knowledge and experience. That's the gap our client fills, and it's why they're growing! 

Our client is a well-established, tight-knit HR consulting and employee benefits firm serving small businesses (mostly 10–100 employees) across Northeast Ohio. They've built their reputation the old-fashioned way — through relationships, retention, and results — and their average team member sticks around 8–10 years due to competent, caring leadership that recognizes and rewards great results. This is a newly created role, built specifically to give a driven salesperson room to run — prospecting, managing warm leads, closing, and cross-selling two complementary service lines (HR consulting and employee benefits/insurance) under one roof.

Day to Day Role

• Prospect and manage a full sales pipeline — outbound outreach, working pre-qualified marketing leads, and converting warm inbounds
• Build and present proposals directly to business owners and decision-makers
• Cross-sell HR consulting and insurance/benefits services into the same client base
• Represent the company at 2–4 networking events per month, building referral partner relationships that compound over time
• Coordinate closely with HR consultants and benefit specialists to scope and deliver client solutions
• Lead onboarding for newly signed clients
• Keep the CRM current and accurate to support forecasting and team visibility

Compensation & Perks

• Base + Commission: $55K–$65K base, uncapped commission structure
• On-Target Earnings: $85K–$140k+ (top performers have earned well beyond this)
• Insurance Referral Commission: Ongoing monthly commission on referred insurance business
• HR Services Commission: Tiered commission per signed HR client for 2 years
• Certification/Licensing Bonus: Optional, company pays for HR certification or insurance licensing, plus a $1,000–$5,000 bonus upon completion
• Spot Bonuses: $500–$2,500 discretionary bonus for hitting earnings targets
• Gas Card: Provided for field travel to visit clients
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm
• Ramp-Up Support: Structured 90-day onboarding period
• Health Benefits: Medical, vision, dental, long-term disability, life, short-term disability, and voluntary life — eligible the 1st of the month following 30 days
• 401(k): Company match

Requirements

• 1–2 years of proven business to business sales experience (required)
• Ideally 3–5 years in a B2B role — payroll, commercial banking, inside/outside commercial sales, IT services, accounting services, or another business-owner-facing capacity
• Track record of sustained success and tenure in past sales roles
• CRM experience
• No degree required
• Nice to have: insurance license, insurance industry background, or Go High Level experience

This is an onsite position based in the Akron, OH area; it is not available as a remote role.
