Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. This full-time, contract position is based in the San Rafael area and focuses on supporting upper elementary students in a Special Day Class (SDC) setting at the elementary level. You will play a central role in shaping inclusive education for diverse learners while enjoying the support of a collaborative educational community.
Qualifications:
- Current Mild/Moderate CTC certification (required)
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher, particularly in SDC or similar settings
- Strong classroom management and differentiation skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Passion for fostering growth and success for students with a variety of learning profiles
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique needs
- Deliver engaging instruction in a supportive SDC environment for upper elementary students
- Collaborate with general education staff, school specialists, and families to coordinate services and supports
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in annual and triennial reviews
- Provide a safe, encouraging, and inclusive classroom atmosphere conducive to learning
- Adapt strategies and materials to maximize one-on-one and small group learning experiences
