Work Environment

This position is primarily held onsite at a school facility in Middletown, New York, offering a conducive setting for the provision of healthcare services. The position involves standard school hours, providing a structured schedule conducive to work-life balance after the initial training period.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of student health by obtaining detailed medical histories and performing physical examinations.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests relevant to pediatric health concerns, including screenings for vision, hearing, and other conditions.
• Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions based on evidence-based guidelines.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation, including progress notes and treatment plans, adhering to privacy regulations and quality standards.
• Actively participate in follow-up care for students, ensuring continuity and coordination of health maintenance according to set protocols.
• Educate students and their families about health management, physical wellness, and prevention strategies tailored to their individual needs.
• Collaborate effectively with school counselors, teachers, and family members to ensure holistic support for students regarding their health and educational journeys.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Nurse Practitioner will primarily focus on providing care to students from diverse backgrounds, aged from preschool through high school. This role necessitates an understanding of common pediatric conditions, as well as the ability to address specific health issues related to the school environment, such as allergies, asthma management, and attention deficit disorders. Being sensitive to the developmental stage and emotional needs of this age group is essential for successful engagement.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Active and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
• Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program with a pediatric or family focus preferred.
• Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in pediatrics or a school setting.
• Knowledge and experience in managing chronic and acute pediatric health issues.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, with additional certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) being a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with children, adolescents, and their families.

Compensation and Benefits
