Homebound Instructor (Full-Time) 2026-27

Job Description This position will provide instructional support to students who qualify for homebound services. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Following lesson plans or instructions given by the current teacher. Providing instruction to students within a home setting using hard copies or online format. Reinforcing concepts and skills, monitoring student progress, and assisting with planning for students with 504/IEPs. Adapting instructional programs under the direction of a teacher to fit individual student needs using a variety of instructional aids and equipment. Assisting in monitoring compliance with IEPs and other student management systems as directed. Participating in appropriate in‑service training. Performing other duties as assigned to support student success. Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District. Qualifications Minimum: Missouri substitute certificate; positive human relation skills. Preferred: Previous teaching experience or other experience in education. Ideal candidate will have a professional and friendly demeanor with demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of individuals. ADA Requirements Language: Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, board policy, administrative procedures, and forms; implement curriculum and assessment data to plan instruction; write reports and correspondence; present information effectively. Computation: Apply mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations; analyze data for instruction. Reasoning: Solve problems in varied situations; interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions; apply educational theory and instructional techniques to present subject matter to students; plan, organize, remember, and regulate information and behavior related to student performance and achievement. Technology: Perform basic computer functions, use district software for recording grades and locating student information; utilize other instructional technology provided by the district. Other skills and abilities: Identify individual student needs and adapt instructional methods; establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents; perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Physical demands: Speak and hear in an environment with numerous conversations and activities; move around the classroom to interact with and manage students and groups of students; read handwritten or printed material. Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Conditions and environment: Work in a typical interior/office environment.
