Location: Charlottesville, Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 13-week assignment; 36 or 48 hours per week; Night shift; 3 weekends per six-week schedule; must work 2 of 3 winter holidays; may float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs

Highlights:

• Combined pediatric cardiac and medical critical care unit with high census and high acuity patients
• Patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity level
• Epic EMR system utilized; 24 hours of paid orientation provided
• Cardiac experience includes DORV, TOF, HLHS, Norwood procedures, TGA, and heart transplant patients
• Medical cases include trauma, DKA, seizures, post-operative orthopedic and neuro cases, liver and kidney transplants
• Advanced equipment experience: ECMO, VADs, CRRT, ventilators, and hemodynamic monitoring

Requirements:

• Active Virginia RN license or pending (must be active by Wednesday before start date)
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of PICU nursing experience with 1:2 patient ratio experience
• Epic charting system experience required
• Pediatric cardiac experience preferred; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
• BSN preferred
• Competency in critical care skills including ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, arterial line management, central line care, administration of vasoactive medications, and chest tube management
