Director of Learning and Development

A fast-growing North Texas manufacturing company is seeking a Director of Learning & Development to build and lead a company-wide training function serving engineering, technical, and professional employees. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can learn how technical work is performed, translate that knowledge into effective curriculum, and personally deliver engaging training. The organization is building a dedicated internal training university and lab, and this leader will own its development from the ground up. What You'll Do Build and lead the company's internal training university and technical training program. Partner with engineering and other departments to identify skill and training needs. Observe technical work and convert subject-matter expertise into structured learning content. Develop technical curriculum, training documentation, assessments, and classroom materials. Personally facilitate instructor-led training for engineers, technicians, and other employees. Create programs covering technical skills, operating processes, efficiencies, and best practices. Establish methods for tracking employee training and program effectiveness. Develop and deliver selected leadership and soft-skills training. Continuously improve training as processes, technology, and business needs evolve. What We're Looking For Learning & Development, technical training, or instructional experience within an engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or similarly technical environment. Experience developing and delivering training for engineers, technicians, or other technical audiences. Strong technical writing and curriculum-development skills. Ability to quickly understand complex processes and translate them into clear, practical instruction. Experience building training programs rather than solely administering established content. Strong classroom facilitation and presentation skills. An engaging, concise communication style that keeps highly technical audiences involved. Ability to work effectively with subject-matter experts and turn their knowledge into scalable training. Experience with both technical and soft-skills training. Ideal Background The strongest candidates combine technical credibility, instructional design, and classroom presence.
