Job Overview and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse (RN) staff member delivers direct nursing care following the established policies and procedures of our medical center and the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. Working collaboratively with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, the clinical RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating treatment plans.

Essential Qualifications:

MANDATORY LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION

• RN license in the State of Texas or a Compact State
• BCLS certification
• ACLS certification

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

• At least an Associate Degree in Nursing or a Diploma is required.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in Critical Care is required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to read and write Basic English, with the skills necessary to comprehend and relay physician’s orders.
• Capability to lift over 100 pounds, with assistance from colleagues.
• Strong listening skills, empathy, and responsiveness to the needs of patients, families, and external partners.
• Understanding of dosages, Critical Care medications, and nursing protocols.
• Familiarity with EKG arrhythmias, hemodynamic monitoring, and intra-aortic balloon pumping.
• Proficient in computer skills.
• Ability to lead a team and collaborate effectively to ensure quality patient care.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in Cardiac Catheterization laboratory and Cardiology Services is preferred.
