Job Opportunity – Medical-Surgical Telemetry Oncology RN – Ohio

Start Date: October 19, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts based on unit needs; shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period; weekend shifts vary based on unit requirements

Highlights:

• Mixed acuity unit with approximately 24 Progressive Care Unit (PCU) beds and 24 Medical-Surgical Telemetry beds caring for medical oncology patients
• High acuity patient population with diverse diagnoses ranging from solid tumors to blood cancers
• Oncology experience preferred but NOT required - 2 years of inpatient nursing experience is the minimum
• Professional development opportunities including optional 2-day chemotherapy competency training course
• Epic charting system with modern equipment including GE telemetry monitoring, Alaris pumps, and PCA pumps
• Target staffing ratios of 1:4-5 for Medical-Surgical Telemetry patients (may vary based on unit needs)
• Strong interdisciplinary support including Pharmacy, Respiratory Services, Physical Therapy, Rapid Response Teams, and more
• 72 hours of orientation provided; one pre-approved time off period available

Requirements:

• Current RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of current inpatient acute care nursing experience (must be actively working in the specialty within the last 12 months)
• Medical-Surgical Telemetry experience required; Progressive Care Unit experience helpful but not required
• Oncology experience preferred but NOT mandatory
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity level
• Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager, director, or formal supervisor)
• Completion of Ohio fingerprinting process upon contract signing
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Key Skills and Competencies:

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Blood product administration and central line/PICC line management
• IV therapy including starting and maintaining peripheral IVs
• PCA pump management and continuous bladder irrigation
• BiPAP/CPAP management and high-flow nasal cannula experience
• Port access and management skills preferred
• Experience with isolation precautions and infection prevention protocols
• Knowledge of heparin and IV insulin protocols
• Familiarity with Rapid Response and Code teams

Additional Information:

Patient Population: Primarily adults and geriatric patients; pediatric patients are extremely rare and typically cared for by permanent staff

Float Requirements: Float to other Medical-Surgical Telemetry units as needed

Compliance Timeline: Strict compliance deadline of the Tuesday prior to start date with no exceptions. Candidates must be responsive and cooperative with all credentialing requirements.

Eligibility Notes: Former employees eligible after 6 months away from the facility; current employees at any affiliated location are ineligible; local candidates accepted at the same rate
