Business Development Manager-Americas

About Ohly Our client, Ohly, the third largest yeast extract producer in the world, is looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager‑Americas to support its rapid growth in the Americas. Ohly develops yeast‑based flavors, specialty powders, and bionutrients for food, fermentation, and related technical markets. Ohly is headquartered in Germany and part of the Associated British Foods group, which has worked in the international food, ingredients and retail sectors since 1935, and is renowned for delivering high quality products and services that are central to millions of people’s lives. For more information and inspiration, visit: About this Position As the Business Development Manager‑Americas, you will grow Ohly’s bionutrients business across the Americas, with priority focus on the U.S. and Canada. You will develop new business opportunities, manage strategic accounts and distributors, drive revenue growth and influence the strategic sales plan. The ideal candidate will bring his/her innovative business development approach along with a proven track record of selling bionutrients, fermentation, enzymes, probiotics, culture media, food ingredients or related products to industry leading companies. Your ability to identify opportunities, maintain a pipeline of qualified leads and build long‑term customer relationships at all organizational levels will be keys to your success. This role reports directly to the Commercial Director Bionutrients at HQ. Travel up to 40% annually is expected. Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development Identify and develop new business opportunities across bionutrients, fermentation‑related applications, and related technical ingredients. Build strong relationships with direct customers, distributors, and strategic accounts in the Americas. Develop account plans, customer relationship maps, and opportunity plans for priority customers. Complete monthly sales forecast and annual sales budget including both volume and pricing. Technical & Internal Alignment Provide technical‑commercial guidance to customers and coordinate deeper technical support with R&D and application teams Lead negotiations, prepare proposals, and close new business opportunities Deliver customer presentations, technical discussions, forecasts, pipeline updates, and market feedback Your Profile Your Education & Work Experience Degree in chemistry, biology or fermentation science or a business‑related field. 7+ years in technical sales, business development, account management, or a similar role. Technical background in bionutrients, fermentation, enzymes, probiotics, culture media, biotech ingredients, food ingredients, or related B2B markets. Strong technical or market knowledge, with the ability to understand customer applications and translate technical value into business opportunities. Proven ability to develop accounts, build pipelines, negotiate, and close profitable business. Proficiency in MS Office 365 suite and CRM systems Your Skills & Personality Characteristics Outstanding ability to network and solid customer service skills to build and maintain strong, long‑lasting client relationships. Excellent communication skills, ability to interface and gain trust cross functionally internally as well as externally.
