Staff ML Engineer - Scene Generation

Salary: $249,600 - 299,500 per year Requirements:

• We require a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline, with 10+ years of progressively relevant experience; or a Masters degree in one of these fields with 7+ years of experience; or a PhD in one of these fields with 5+ years of experience.
• We need strong proficiency in Python and deep learning toolkits such as PyTorch.
• We are looking for a PhD, or equivalent professional experience, with 8+ years in a relevant field, including shipping production software and leading technical teams.
• We need proven expertise in neural rendering, including Neural Radiance Fields and 3D Gaussian Splatting, as well as generative modeling techniques such as diffusion models and flow matching.
• We require experience working with production data in robotics and/or autonomous driving settings.
• We are looking for a background in Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, 3D Reconstruction, or 3D Computer Vision.
• We need experience handling autonomous driving sensor data across multiple time steps and modalities, including cameras, LiDAR, and radar.
• We expect recognized subject-matter expertise, with the ability to deliver complex, high-impact work with minimal oversight and strong independent judgment.
• We require experience with VDI and cloud-based machine learning development environments.
• We need demonstrated experience leading a team or acting as a technical lead, setting direction and building consensus among engineers and stakeholders.
• We are looking for a strong track record of mentoring and developing engineers, including senior individual contributors.
• We require proven ability to design, maintain, and own technical solutions, while aligning work across partner teams and the broader organization.
• Bonus: experience with autonomous driving or robotics perception in production environments.
• Bonus: proficiency in CUDA programming for efficient rendering of large-scale scenes.
• Bonus: publications in top-tier CV, AI, or graphics venues such as CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, or SIGGRAPH.
• Bonus: experience with MLOps and infrastructure tools such as Ray.
• Bonus: familiarity with 3D labeling, calibration, and sensor simulation pipelines.

• We will have you serve as the teams technical lead, owning key design decisions and guiding agreement across engineers and stakeholders.
• We will have you define and drive the technical vision and roadmap for our Scene Generation work in neural rendering and generative modeling, aligned with our AV 3.0 strategy.
• We will rely on you to lead the Scene Generation team day to day by prioritizing work, unblocking engineers, and making final architecture decisions.
• We want you to apply the latest advances in neural rendering and generative models and help the team turn research into practical solutions.
• We will have you translate cutting-edge research into production-quality camera, LiDAR, and radar sensor simulation that improves perception simulation and AV 3.0 training.
• We will have you own our neural rendering framework end to end, from research and design through implementation, testing, cloud integration, and deployment.
• We expect you to understand cloud integration for the framework and automate pipelines to scale verification and validation for our autonomous trucks.
• We will have you design, implement, test, and deploy production-grade software using disciplined development practices.
• We expect you to work within our cloud machine learning ecosystem and make integration and scaling decisions for the teams pipeline.
• We want you to assess current capabilities, identify improvement areas, and drive solutions that support our strategy and operations.
• We will have you align across interfaces with the rest of the organization and represent the teams roadmap, priorities, and constraints to partner groups and leadership.
• We want you to mentor, coach, and grow engineers, while also contributing to hiring, onboarding, and career development.
