Regional Inspection Lead - Platte Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator

Temporary Position (9‑month or less) – Pay $22.00 per hour – Employment starts 04/04/2026 through 10/31/2026. Overview Position responsible for the oversight of watercraft inspection & decontamination stations throughout the regional area. The role includes recruitment, training, scheduling, payroll, quality control, data entry, inventory management, maintenance of equipment, and public outreach on aquatic invasive species. Responsibilities Oversee watercraft inspection & decontamination stations. Recruit, interview, and hire inspection staff. Obtain state certification and provide hands‑on training. Work with ramp leads to create schedules and ensure shift coverage during operational hours. Collect and verify accurate time‑keeping records for payroll and submit payroll to the ANS Program Office. Resolve staff and customer challenges; recommend hiring/firing to project lead. Ensure stations have all necessary equipment and communicate needs with the ANS Program Office. Perform quality‑control assessments of station staff monthly. Perform accurate data entry and inventory maintenance for supplies. Perform basic maintenance & troubleshooting on power washer / decontamination unit. Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species. Participate in regular meetings with ANS program office staff & fellow WID supervisors. Work closely with ANS Program Office staff to resolve problems. Work early mornings, evenings and weekends as required. Qualifications Minimum 1 year experience in ANS or invasive species field. Current Stage II certification in Watercraft Inspection & Decontamination. Experience performing boat inspections and decontaminations. Experience working with the public in a customer‑service related field. Outstanding public speaking and presentation skills. Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or comparable work experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent driving record and ability to work weekends, early mornings and evenings. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Self‑motivation and ability to work independently. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record for state‑owned vehicle use. Additional Requirements Compliance with fleet vehicle policy: MVRs will be pulled for workers who have an assigned state‑fleet vehicle, are required to operate a vehicle as part of their position, or use a state‑fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle.
