Compensation: $70,000–$80,000/year, DOE
Ain't Normal is looking for a Kitchen Manager / Chef to lead our kitchen. You'll own menu execution, day-to-day operations, and team leadership — with real room to shape how the kitchen runs.
Requirements:
- California Food Protection Manager Certification (CFPM) — or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Proven kitchen leadership experience (sous chef, kitchen manager, or CDC level)
- Available for full-time hours, including weekends, mornings, and afternoons
- Valid driver's license preferred
What you bring:
- A hands-on leader who can manage the team and oversee daily kitchen operations
- Experience with both pastry and savory cooking
- Strong organizational skills — ordering, inventory, and food cost management
- Comfortable training and developing staff, and enforcing food safety, sanitation, and quality standards
- Collaborative — able to work directly with ownership on menu development and seasonal offerings
- Comfortable working with seasonal, high-quality ingredients and adjusting menus accordingly
- A team player who communicates clearly with staff and management
Physical requirements:
- Able to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items up to 50 lbs
- Manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow oral/written instructions
