Paralegal

A growing legal team is partnering with Robert Half to identify an experienced Paralegal to support employment litigation matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys both substantive legal work and team coordination.

The ideal candidate will bring strong litigation support experience, deep knowledge of court procedures, and the ability to manage deadlines across all phases of a case.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide and oversee legal assistants and support staff
• Review legal assistant work for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal and state court rules
• Monitor electronic court filings and ensure deadlines are calendared in accordance with federal rules, local rules, and judge-specific rules
• Allocate team resources based on deadlines, trial schedules, and attorney needs
• Train support staff on case protocols related to wage and hour matters
• Coordinate with attorneys regarding case strategy, discovery, and client communications
• Conduct substantive legal work, including legal research, drafting legal documents, and assisting with trial preparation
• Analyze discovery, summarize findings, and support overall case development
• Assist with finalizing and filing pleadings as delegated

Matter Management

• Update and maintain matter plans throughout the life of each case
• Ensure case records, filings, appearances, service, and expenses are properly tracked
• Coordinate FOIA and state law equivalent requests
• Confirm key case information is accurately maintained in case management systems

Discovery Responsibilities

• Draft discovery shells based on attorney direction and case needs
• Review protective orders and local rule limitations before service
• Track service and response deadlines
• Review incoming discovery responses for sufficiency, deficiencies, objections, and missing documents
• Prepare summaries and annotations for attorney review
• Assist with drafting deficiency correspondence
• Manage incoming discovery requests, organize client information needs, and draft responses
• Finalize responses, apply Bates stamps, and coordinate service on opposing counsel

Deposition, Mediation, and Trial Support

• Draft deposition notices and coordinate scheduling logistics
• Manage client availability, travel, court reporters, videographers, and transcript tracking
• Support mediation preparation, including calendaring, payments, and document coordination
• Maintain trial folders and prepare exhibit lists, witness lists, binders, and related materials
• Ensure clients are informed of trial obligations

Settlement and Closing Responsibilities

• Track settlement reporting and case expenses
• Calendar deadlines tied to settlement agreements, approvals, and memoranda of understanding
• Coordinate execution of settlement documents and tax forms
• Confirm receipt of settlement funds
• Ensure matters are properly closed with the court and through internal processes

Qualifications

• Paralegal experience supporting litigation matters
• Strong understanding of federal and state court filing procedures and calendaring requirements
• Experience with discovery management, deposition coordination, mediation preparation, and trial support
• Excellent drafting, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities with a high level of accuracy
• Comfortable working closely with attorneys, clients, and legal support staff
• Experience with legal technology and case management platforms preferred
