Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Acute Leukemia and Hematology – Ohio

Start Date: November 2, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Day/Night rotation or Night shifts only). Rotating contracts may include days, nights, or a combination of both based on departmental needs. Schedule reviewed every 4-week period. Weekend shifts variable based on unit needs.

Highlights:

• Specialized 24-bed acute leukemia and hematology unit caring for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
• High-acuity medical unit with extensive blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
• Nurse-to-patient ratio goal of 1:4, may extend to 1:5
• EPIC charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, rapid response teams, and therapy services
• 72-hour orientation provided; contract length standard for travel assignments
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient safety initiatives

Requirements:

• Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years overall nursing experience required
• Current and consistent acute care experience within the last 12 months in inpatient hematology oncology
• Medical-Surgical oncology experience and documented hematology oncology experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy, blood product administration, central line management, PICC line care, and starting IVs
• Experience with leukemia/blood dyscrasias is a hard requirement
• Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccination not required
• Two professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal leadership)
