Short-Form Video Editor & Storyteller

Job Description

MoonSleep is a small business that’s grown astronomically over the last six months. Since March 2026, we’ve amassed almost 400 million social media views and sold over 25,000 products.

Video is at the heart of how people find and fall in love with MoonSleep. We have a large and growing bank of raw footage: lifestyle content, founder videos, product shots, and past clips. We’re looking for a creative, fast, detail-oriented editor to help us tell our story through organic content and keep a steady stream of variations coming for ads and trial reels.

About the role

Your work will have two equal sides:

The first is storytelling through our organic content. You’ll shape our lifestyle and founder footage into videos that feel personal, cozy, and true to MoonSleep, and help our audience connect with the brand and the people behind it. That means digging through our footage library, mixing new and past clips, and finding fresh ways to tell our story over time.

The second is creating lots of variations for paid ads and trial reels. You’ll take one raw clip and turn it into many versions with different hooks, pacing, text, and structure, so we can test what works.

What you’ll do

• Tell our story through organic content: Edit lifestyle and founder videos for our accounts, building narratives and recurring formats that help people connect with MoonSleep over time.

• Bring ideas to the edit: Suggest angles, sequences, and ways to reuse footage, and flag what we should film more of to fill gaps in our story.
\n
• Create ad and trial reel variations: Turn single clips into multiple versions with different hooks, cuts, captions, and lengths for testing.
\n
• Use our content library creatively: Pull from past footage, combine clips, and build new stories from existing material.
\n
• Keep things consistent: Help define and maintain a recognizable MoonSleep editing style across videos, including captions, pacing, music, and overall feel.

• Stay organized: Help keep our footage library and edit files tidy and easy to find.
\n
• Learn from results: Review performance with us and use what’s working to shape future edits.
\n

Our aesthetic is cozy, whimsical, and personal. We love content that feels like a natural part of someone’s life, with a strong sense of atmosphere and personality.

Who we’re looking for

Your biggest strengths should be storytelling through short-form editing, plus fast, consistent output.

Ideally, you:

\n
• Have edited short-form vertical video for TikTok, Reels, or paid social, and can share examples.
\n
• Can show organic content you’ve edited that built a following or a sense of personality, not just ads.
\n
• Know how to write and cut a strong hook, and enjoy making many variations of one idea.
\n
• Have a good eye for storytelling and can find the best moments in a lot of raw footage.
\n
• Are organized, reliable with deadlines, and comfortable taking and applying feedback.
\n
• Understand our audience and what makes content feel genuine rather than overly polished.
\n
• Experience with filming or a strong eye for shooting content, UGC-style ads, ecommerce brands, or performance creative is a bonus.

How we’ll work together

You’ll work directly with MoonSleep's founders and our creator team. We’ll share our existing performance insights, briefs, and footage. We’ll be closely involved in direction and approvals at first, with the goal of giving you more creative ownership as we build a rhythm.

Location and arrangement

• Location: Remote-friendly, with a preference for Austin, Texas.
\n
• Arrangement: Part-time contract, with the potential to grow as our content needs expand.
\n
• Time commitment: Flexible, to be agreed based on volume and availability.
\n
• Compensation: Hourly, per project or monthly retainer with the rate agreed before starting.
\n
• Process: Shortlisted candidates will complete a short paid test edit using our footage.
