Human Resources Assistant

Human Resources is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented individuals to join our Staffing & Compensation team as Human Resources Assistant. This position primarily supports administrative processes related to the recruitment, on‑boarding, and retention of the City's workforce. The ideal candidate will have the demonstrated ability to professionally communicate both orally and in writing with internal and external customers, display advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and be able to perform administrative tasks in an efficient and accurate manner in a high-volume central HR work environment. Previous experience in a Central HR environment is desired. General HR Support Position — Duties will include, but are not limited to: Providing assistance to applicants and city department staff on statuses, process, and resolution of issues. Coordinating onboarding of new employees to include tracking of onboarding activities, background check results, completing I-9 forms (including e-Verify submissions). Processing education verifications for new hires and uploading results into personnel files. Establishing and maintaining electronic filing systems and personnel records. Preparing correspondence and basic statistical reports in support of divisional needs and requests. Explaining routine personnel procedures and applicant related forms. Developing and maintaining simple automated database systems to facilitate recordkeeping and processing of personnel transactions. Assisting with updating and posting job descriptions on public facing website. Training city staff members on the use of the applicant tracking system. Answering the applicant phone line and responding to inquiries received via the HR Careers email box.
