Compensation From: $80,000 per year, commensurate based on experience
Reports To: Store Manager and General Manager
We are seeking a candidate who is professional and can accurately execute a wide range of items including cakes, pies, pastries and many other items to our standards. Duties will consist of managing the Pastry Department with all necessary tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction which is our main goal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Ensuring pastry is consistently of excellent quality
- Recipe writing and costing
- Inventory management
- Manage and oversee the training and productivity of department staff members.
- Make recommendations to DM or ADM regarding staffing and scheduling.
- Responsible for ensuring that all associates in department are in full uniform before beginning shift.
- Product rotation and product quality
- Proper product presentation
- Work on holidays when store is open and extended hours when needed i.e. holiday seasons, special events.
- Perform other duties and assignments as delegated by your supervisor.
- Must provide excellent customer service regardless of position by acknowledging customers looking for service. All employees must ensure that the customer gets what
they are searching for by attending to customers themselves or ensuring the customer is attended to by an associate that can assist them.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies- Excellent understanding of various cooking and baking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Organizational skills to properly manage inventory so we don't under or over produce and that all products are properly rotated
- Ability to teach Pastry employees speed and accuracy in executing tasks
- Proficient with industry’s best practices
- Culinary school diploma desirable
- Creativity to introduce new items to attract customers
- Cake decorating techniques with new and interesting designs
- Leadership skills to manage the pastry staff
- Time management skills so that our high-volume production runs on schedule and that there are no missing products
- Complete understanding of DOA and DOH Guidelines and makes sure that entire staff complies with same
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a Pastry Chef in a professional pastry kitchen
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Training experience preferred
